A Zimbabwean woman who was staying in Zambia illegally with her businessman boyfriend has been rumbled and arrested.
The Zimbabwean, Lizzy Ndambakuwa and her boyfriend, Victor
Siboli have since been convicted and made to pay K60,000 each or in default
face imprisonment.
Immigration Spokesperson Namati Nshinka told Mwebantu :“The
couple was apprehended on October 11th, 2022 in the Chief Capital Area of
Kasempa District following a tip-off from members of the community that a
Zambian was allegedly harbouring a Zimbabwean with questionable immigration
status.” He said the couple appeared before the Kasempa Magistrate Court, where
Sibooli was sentenced to pay a fine of K 60,000 or, in default, 24 months
simple imprisonment.
“His Zimbabwean partner, Lizzy was sentenced to pay a fine
of K 60,000 or, in default, 12 months simple imprisonment, suspended for 12
months. The conviction of the Kasempa couple brings the number of convictions
secured by the Department between October 17th and 20th, 2022 to 75.”
