A Zimbabwean who was spared deportation from the UK due to Covid-19 says he has gone four days without eating anything because of stress.
Christoper Arundel, 26, an aspiring footballer has been
detained for weeks away from his family with no scheduled date of deportation,
and is struggling to cope mentally and physically in the razor fenced
environment.
“I couldn't eat. My
belly was just upside down and that's part of my anxiety and my problems with
stomach turns and can’t really eat anything. After the first day no one really
came to check up on me about it.
“The officers would come down and they would see I wasn't
taking my food and they would be like ‘Alright’ and walk off. I feel as though
they would have let me die,” he told MyLondon News.
He was later seen by a mental health worker and now fights
to stay in the UK.
