Solomina Mbombe’s burnt body was found with both legs and
hands tied with wire in Sekgakgapeng, outside Limpopo on Tuesday evening. The
mother of two (39) had a fight with her boyfriend over money a day before the
brutal incident.
Her family say they are struggling to cope. Taurai Mbombe
(36) said his late sister has been working as a helper in Mzansi for the past
five years, and was the one supporting the family back home.
“I was in the other section when he called me asking me of
my sister’s whereabouts a day before this incident. I was shocked because that
man doesn’t just call me. I couldn’t believe when I found my sister entirely
burnt on my arrival after being called by the neighbours. We are deeply hurt
and no one is coping because she wasn’t just a mother, but a breadwinner to
us.” Taurai said.
Limpopo police spokesman Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo
confirmed to the Daily Sun that they were investigating cases of murder and
arson.
“What caused the fire is unknown at this stage. The dead
woman’s boyfriend, whom they used to quarrel a lot and she had obtained a
protection order against him, was allegedly seen around the scene before the deceased’s
room burnt,” Mojapelo said.
Mojapelo said the suspect was still at large and cops were
searching for him while investigations continued.
