The trial of a Chinese national who shot two workers failed to kick off yesterday
because there was no Chinese interpreter.
Zhang Xuelin (50) appeared briefly before provincial
magistrate Mr Edwin Marecha facing two counts of attempted murder.
Xuelin, a manager at Reden Mine in Shamrock Park in Gweru
was not asked to plead as there was no Chinese interpreter which the state said
will only be available at the next court date.
Xuelin who shot one of his employees, Mr Kenneth Tachiona
three times on both thighs while another employee Mr Wendy Chikwaira had his
chin grazed by a bullet, was remanded in custody to July 7.
