A Zimbabwean woman has been stabbed to death in a picturesque Essex village in the UK.
The 41-year-old victim was found with stab wounds in Great Saling, near Braintree, on Monday afternoon and died at the scene.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at the scene. He became unwell and was taken to hospital where he remains today.
A spokesman for the force said: 'We were called to an address in The Street shortly before 2.45pm on Monday 19 August with concerns for the welfare of a 41-year-old woman.
'She was found unconscious and had suffered stab wounds. Sadly she died at the scene.
'A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital after becoming unwell and currently remains in hospital.
'We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's death and we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and heard or saw anything suspicious."
