Velaphi Mirira-Maphosa (58) from Atteridgeville, Tshwane
said he was born and raised in Mzansi, but later discovered his late dad was
from Zimbabwe. He said his family in Zimbabwe had a ritual to welcome him.
“I thought my problems were going to stop, but they got
worse,” he told the Daily Sun. He said he realised the new surname was making his life hell.
Velaphi said he had been struggling with women. “I have
been married twice and engaged three times. All my women cheat on me and
started acting crazily.”
He said he’s found a woman he wanted to marry, but was
scared she might do the same.
Velaphi said he went to Home Affairs for help, but the
issue was not resolved yet.
“They told me to bring my relatives’ documents, but they
are all dead.” He said his 10 children were also affected.
Home affairs spokesman Thabo Mokhola said: “He must provide
whatever documents Home Affairs needs.”
