She had vowed that she will never walk down the aisle but Zodwa Wabantu has had a change of heart. She says money changed everything.

“Money changed my mind. It gave me options,” she told the Times. Zodwa said that her reasoning behind saying she would never get married was she thought no man would ever be able to handle her. But as she earned more money, and she was able to tick off the big items on her to-do list, marriage began to look more appealing to her.

“In the beginning, I thought no man would ask me out.. with plans to stay with me. I know who I am and I am a strong woman – not many men can deal with that. But more than that, I had important sh*t to do. Like I have a son, whose future I had to ensure was secure,” said Zodwa.

She also added that she had a house to build and other things to do, so marriage wasn’t appealing back then. She said marriage looked like a task that she wasn’t ready for or wanted.

But after proposing to the man of her dreams, Zodwa bought herself an expensive ring, and started preparing for the big do in June. She said she’s ready to be a wife – but on her own terms.
