The teen Chipinge maid who stole a baby a day after she was
employed has escaped jail.
The magistrate ruled that Arginia Sithole who is 17-years
old cannot be sent to prison yet because she was a minor.
Sithole had pleaded guilty to kidnapping charges. The
magistrate, Mr Gwezhira postponed passing the sentence for the next two years
on condition that the accused does not commit a similar offence.
The court heard that Sithole kidnapped her new employer’s
baby in Chipinge and fled to Chiredzi. Cops tracked her down to her village
and found her with the baby on her back. She was promptly arrested.
