MDC secretary general, Douglas Mwonzora has charged that the presidential race was rigged in favour of his rival Nelson Chamisa.

He said he had to withdraw from the race because he had no chance as the playing field was not even. Mwonzora said the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions which was superintending over the polls had been captured.

“I am no longer able to continue participating in the current congress. I have raised my concerns to the chairperson of the Independent Electoral Commission, ZCTU led by Mr Japhet Moyo but nothing was done. I therefore, had to withdraw because I do not wish to see the party divided.

“I cannot continue participating in the congress under the present circumstances if the concerns I have raised remained unresolved,” he told The Herald.

ZCTU boss, Japhet Moyo said he had received Mwonzora’s letter but they were still to act on it.
