Jay-Z has described the arrest of rapper 21 Savage as an
absolute travesty and hired a lawyer to assist in his case.
The music mogul released a statement and said the rapper must
be reunited with his three children immediately. 21 Savage applied for a
non-immigrant ‘U-Visa’ in 2017 and that is still pending. His three young
children are all US citizens and live in Atlanta, Georgia.
'In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21
deserves to be reunited with his children immediately, #Free21Savage,' Jay-Z
wrote in a statement.
Though the rapper, whose legal name is Sha'Yaa Bin
Abraham-Joseph, isn't signed by Roc Nation, Jay-Z's record label responded to
his arrest on Sunday morning in Atlanta by hiring attorney Alex Spiro on the
case.
In a statement to TMZ, Spiro said: 'We are not going to
stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge.
'What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa
with an application pending for four years - not a convicted criminal that
needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person,
father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and
sealed.'
