MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has spoken after his motorcade
was barred from entering the National Sports Stadium for the sending off of
national hero, Oliver Mtukudzi.
Chamisa confirmed to the Mail and Telegraph that his cars
were blocked but he refused to categorically state whether he was in any of the
cars.
“I cannot give a comment now and state whether I was there
or not because that will be exposing how
I travel and may compromise my security,” Chamisa said.
But a source told the Mail and Telegraph :“He (Chamisa) was
not in any of the cars that were blocked, that was an advance party and when he
was advised that the cars were blocked, he immediately made a U-Turn.”
Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi confirmed that senior MDC
-A officials approached him seeking permission to enter inside the NSS with
their motorcade.
“Mwonzora and Zvizvai came to me and said security details
were blocking Chamisa’s motorcade from entering the stadium. Iasked them
whether it was Chamisa or the vehicles that were not allowed to enter but they
could not say anything.”We sent our senior security details to the gate but the
cars had already left.”
“Only the President’s motorcade is allowed to drive into
the stadium on national events so there was an attempt to breach security
measures,” he said.
