The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority says it will meet with its
ambassador, Genius Kadungure before making a decision after he was arrested and
locked up.
The Ginimbi arrest as well as lack of funding forced the
ZTA to postpone the Harare carnival yet again. Ginimbi was nabbed for fraud and
tax evasion. He is now out on bail. The ZTA was roundly criticised after
Ginimbi was appointed Tourism Ambassador for three years.
ZTA head corporate affairs Godfrey “Chief” Koti said he was not able to comment before having
a pending meeting with Ginimbi.
“I am afraid I won’t be able to respond appropriately
today, we are out in Mutare at the ministry’s strategic planning workshop. I am
not in a position to respond appropriately right away. Let me engage my
superiors as well,” he told the Standard.
ZTA chief executive Karikoga Kaseke said they settled for
him not because he is a businessman, but because he is a socialite.
