Two lorries laden with 58 tonnes of copper, believed to
belong to a top politician’s son have been seized by cops in Chivhu.
The Masvingo Mirror reports that the copper valued at $250
000 was discovered t a roadblock at Featherstonwe.
The truck drivers did not have the necessary documents on
them and cops impounded the vehicles which are now parked at Chivhu Police
Station.
“This is a very sensitive matter and don’t expect anyone to
talk to you about it. We are waiting for instructions from the above on what to
do with the trucks (with SA registration numbers) but otherwise we have traced
the copper to the son of a top politician,” said an officer who to the Masvingo
Mirror.
National Police spokesperson Charity Charamba said she is
on leave.
