A man has attacked his wife after he thought she had attended President
Mnangagwa’s recent rally at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo.
Farai Nguvaino (31), a council employee, had sent a text
message to his wife, Nyembesi Gwatiringa ordering her not to get into busses
that ferried supporters to the rally.
The Masvingo Mirror reports that Gwatiringa complied with
the instruction but failed to reply to the messages because she had no money in
her phone. Nguvaino concluded that his wife disobeyed him and attended the
rally. When he got home Nguvaino attacked his wife with a switch all over the
body for attending Mnangagwa's rally.
She suffered injuries as a result and was medically
examined at Morgenster Mission Hospital. She reported the matter to the Police
after hospital staff refused to serve her unless she brought a Police report.
Provincial Magistrate Langton Ndokera found Nguvaino guilty
as charged and fined him $50 or 20 days in prsion.
