If l had my way l will urge Zimbabwean voters to elect people on merit, with capabilities and substance and get away from partisan politics if ever we want to rebuild a new Zimbabwe. Just voting for useless people because they belong to your party is not helpful to the cause. Demand to know what all those failures in the ballot paper have done for your constituency, some have served for two terms and zero delivery. It's not about age, it's about working for the people and delivering on your promise. Good leaders are not measured by age but by what they do for the people.
Why do we allow these bunch of useless people to continue serving themselves at the expense of their constituencies? After every 5 years they return to lie to you promising you heaven on earth and we foolishly vote for them yet they deliver nothing. After 30 July you wont see them again neither will you hear them in Parliament fighting for you. They will be busy demanding allowances and new 4 by 4 cars and nothing about issues affecting you. This has to come to an end and just vote for individuals that will deliver and represent you and your constituency.
People prefer issue-based politics to party politics. We need politicians who engage with the issues that matter to us, such as jobs, economy, living costs and health care. When you have no job, no source of income, no tuition fees, no access to health care, no secure home, your area is in economic decline then lied to on false promises, you are going to start feeling disconnected from your community, and that, in turn, makes you less likely to engage with politics.
It's time to pick the best for your constituencies, put partisan politics aside and choose the best people who will be your voice in parliament and bring development to your area. Some of the aspiring parliamentary and council candidates who were bungled through in flawed primary elections leave a lot to be desired. Next parliament might be crammed with the most useless people just there to make numbers. This is my opinion about rebuilding a new Zimbabwe. Ezra Sibanda via Facebook
