For reasons beyond me I am sorry I wont be representing the people of Chikanga-Dangamvura. A constituency that I bonded with and love from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you Chikanga-Dangamvura. I know how disappointed you feel, because I feel it too. And so do many thousands of MDC Alliance supporters especially the women I lead in my capacity as MDCT Assembly of women. These women invested their hopes and dreams in my effort to fight gender perception in terms of women representation in parliament. I am aware that we Women leaders can be nominated to parliament as PR MPS and I appreciate the constitutional obligations to have more women in parliament. I entered the Chikanga-Dangamvura constituency with the sole mission of proving that the Women I lead are equally capable leaders. I had wanted to demonstrate that it is possible that our constituencies can be represented by women as well and further proof that women can do it better than men.
The manner in which my opportunity to represent you have been handled is painful, and it will be for a long time. But I want you to know that internal party politics is not important than election victory. At the moment our task is to remove Zanu PF from power. In this regard I have decided to let bygones be bygones. I have therefore today submitted my name as MDC Alliance PR candidate for Manicaland and I shall be continuing my responsibilities to be campaigning with the President and leadership nationwide. As I believe that my choosing of national campaigns is a sign of maturity and being examplary to all women out there to support the President and MDC Alliance.
I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful support that we built together as an MDC Alliance family. This vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized, campaign we represent is one of the best I have ever seen and it should not be derailed by those who are hungry for positions at the expense of victory for the party.
To all MDC Alliance women out there, you represent the best of me and I urge you to support President Chamisa.
To all the women in Manicaland we have Autilia Matimba representing us in Buhera Central as MP. Please go and support her I shall also be travelling to Buhera South to support her.
Thank you all very much. Thank you so much Machinja.
