Andy Muridzo was in court yesterday and he now says he had
a valid learner’s licence at the time of the accident.
Muridzo is facing two counts of driving without a valid
driver’s licence and negligent driving. He had initially pleaded guilty to both
charges before changing his plea to not guilty yesterday.
Muridzo said yesterday on the day in question, he was
driving along Sam Nujoma Street and intended to turn right into Josiah
Tongogara as the traffic turned amber. As he executed his drive, another white
Mercedes Benz approached the intersection in the inner lane to beat the amber
traffic light leading to a collision.
After the collision, the accused reversed backwards and in
panic drove off on a concrete pavement. He further denies colliding with any
other vehicle. He has also provided photographic evidence of his vehicle but it
was dismissed by the State before the court ordered for colour printed
pictorial evidence to be brought forward.
Muridzo will be back in court on April 19.
