Some 2 500 Zimbabweans are set to be deported from the UK, according to the British Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ms Catriona Lang.
She revealed this when she met with Vice President Kembo Mohadi at his Munhumutapa office in Harare this afternoon. She said Zimbabweans with no right to stay in the UK will be repatriated.
Mohadi said Zimbabwe has no problem receiving its nationals back but would want them vetted to ensure that they are genuine Zimbabweans before taking them back.
Illegal Zimbabweans had managed to stay in the UK as they said they feared being persecuted by the Mugabe regime. With the removal of Mugabe and the warming of relations between Harare and London, failed asylum seekers and others without papers will be forced out of the UK.
