MDC-T acting president Nelson Chamisa says there will not be a congress to choose a new leader.
He said the decision by the National Council to elevate him to the presidency a few hours after the death of the party's leader Morgan Tsvangirai was legitimate.
Chamisa told a huge crowd in Harare that they will roll out the election campaign guided by the national council and standing committee.
MDC-T secretary general Douglas Mwonzora had told the media that the party will hold a congress in march to elect new leadership.
