MDC acting president or vice president, Elias Mudzuri was yesterday barred from having his press conference at Harvest House in Harare.
Mudzuri and Nelson Chamisa are both claiming to be acting on behalf of MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai who is fighting for life in a South African hospital. Mudzuri had announced that he was holding his presser at 2.30pm at Harvest House. Journalists milled around the entrance of the party’s national headquarters for over an hour after the press conference was expected to start.
They dispersed after they were advised by some party officials to pick up the press statement at Mudzuri’s Milton Park residence, where he was reportedly holed up in meetings with the party’s “elders”.
Mudzuri said Tsvangirai was still in charge and apart from him, the only other person to speak on behalf of the party was its national spokesperson Obert Gutu.
